Down Among the Dead Men
After twenty years of absence, the writer goes home to Port au Prince. On the face of it, the country is unchanged. But between silences and memories, whispers and odd things, the dreamed country takes over the real one. Down Among the Dead Men is a funny and poetic investigation that is at times an emotional account of someone’s homecoming and at times a magic account of the hidden gods. “They are here, I know it and they are all watching me working on this book. I know they are scrutinising me. I can feel it.”

» VOIR
